What to Expect During the “Corinthian Finish” aka Punch Phase

by | Sep 19, 2023 | Corinthian Process | 0 comments

The “Corinthian Finish” phase in our residential home remodel refers to the final stage of the project.  It will typically take 1-2 weeks for us to address any remaining issues, make final adjustments, and ensure that all aspects of the project are completed to the client’s satisfaction. This phase is also known as the “punch list” phase.

What’s Included in the Punch Phase

During the punch phase, Corinthian and our homeowners walk through the remodeled areas of the home to identify any defects, errors, or discrepancies that need to be corrected. This can include issues like:

  1. Exterior: Checking gutters and downspouts, brick and siding and needed caulking.
  2. Cosmetic Imperfections: Fixing drywall and paint touch-ups, scratches, dents, or other minor aesthetic issues.
  3. Hardware and Finishes: Ensuring that all hardware, fixtures, and finishes (such as faucets, cabinet handles, light fixtures) are properly installed and functioning as intended.
  4. Electrical and Plumbing: Checking for any issues with electrical outlets, switches, plumbing fixtures, and making sure they are all working correctly.
  5. Carpentry and Trim: Verifying that trim work, molding, and other carpentry details are installed properly and without defects.
  6. Doors and Windows: Confirming that doors and windows open, close, and lock properly, without any drafts or leaks.
  7. Flooring: Checking for uneven flooring, loose tiles, or any other issues with the flooring material.
  8. HVAC System: Ensuring that the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems are functioning as expected.
  9. Appliances: Verifying that appliances are properly installed and in good working condition.
  10. Cabinetry: Checking that cabinets are correctly aligned, doors and drawers open smoothly, and hardware is properly installed.
  11. Safety and Code Compliance: Making sure that the remodeled areas meet local building codes and safety standards.

What Happens Next?

Once the issues on the punch list are identified, we will work to address them and make the necessary repairs or adjustments. This phase is crucial to delivering a high-quality end result and ensuring that our homeowners are satisfied with the completed project. Occasionally we may be at the mercy of delays in products arriving when scheduled, such as a light fixture or appliance to arrive.

However, Corinthian strives to turn your home over to you to live in, while we wait. Our goal during this phase is to deliver a high-quality end result ensuring that all expectations are met before the project is officially considered complete.
