We love the traditions the holidays inspire. For us, cooking and sharing good food is a staple. We thought we’d share the love and one of Susan’s favorite holiday recipes – her grandma’s soft molasses cookies. Enjoy!

½ C Butter

½ C Crisco (not margarine)

1 ½ C Sugar

½ C Light molasses

2 Eggs

Dry Ingredients

4 C Flour

½ tsp Salt

2 tsp Baking soda

2 tsp ground ginger

1 tsp ground cloves

1 ½ tsp cinnamon

Stir dry ingredients together in a bowl. In a separate bowl, cream butter, shortening, sugar until fluffy. Beat in molasses & eggs. Add blended flour/spices gradually until well mixed. Roll dough into 1 1/2” balls and place on greased cookie sheets. Bake 350 degree in center of oven. Do not overbake! If desired, drizzle with powdered sugar glaze while cookies are still warm. For big cookies, bake 10 minutes. For smaller cookies 8 to 10 minutes.

If you’re wondering what makes a cookie ‘big’ or ‘smaller’, give us a shout and we’ll be happy to explain!
